Float to raise funds at the Manly Inflatable Boat Race

If you’re looking for a splash of colour and fun this weekend, look no further than the iconic Manly Inflatable Boat Race.

This Sunday, February 25, head north to Manly’s Shelly beach as it bursts with colour and fun for the return of the annual Manly Inflatable Boat Race.

The event kicks off with registration and set-up beginning at 8.45am. With the starting flag waving at 10.30am, the one-kilometre race will take competitors out into the sea, around a set of buoys, and back to the shore again.

But this is a race like no other: the only requirements are a ridiculous get-up and a sweet ride. Rifle through that old dress-up box of yours to find your funniest fancy dress, and bring along any sort of inflatable boat to paddle around the course with. From flamingos, to donuts, to unicorns and more, all manner of inflatables are welcome!

As an added bonus, there are plenty of prizes on offer. If you’re feeling lucky, go for gold to win first place, but if you’re aquatically challenged, don’t worry – there’s also awards for the wackiest team, craziest boat, best fancy dress and even last across the finish line, among others.

If that isn’t incentive enough, Hotel Steyne in Manly will be hosting the awards ceremony, with a free sausage sizzle for competitors.

Originally started by Denver Bevan in 2005, the Race has become one of the Northern Beaches most popular events. For its fourteenth year, organisers are expecting over 800 competitors.
Proceeds from the day will benefit the Tour de Cure, a charity raising money for cancer research, support, and prevention.

Make the most of the last weekend of summer and don’t miss out on the fun! Tickets are available online now for $55, or on the day for $60.
