GO: Sydney Chinese New Year Festival Opening Night
Friday the 16th of February sees the opening of the Chinese New Year festival run by the City of Sydney. Fireworks will light up the sky, the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s skin will turn red, and the Lunar zodiac will be on display in lantern form around Circular Quay, making for a visually spectacular night out in Sydney this weekend. Mosey on up from Circular Quay to Customs House where Frameshift, an aerial theatre show of vertical performance and contemporary dance, will be manoeuvring across scaffolding and turning the Sydney skyline into their playground. EAT: Lotus X Black Star Pastry X Valrhona Collaboration Dessert Degustation
Celebrate the Lunar New Year in the best way possible; with an interactive dessert degustation running from the 17th- 18th of February at Lotus. In collaboration with Valrhona chocolate, Lotus’ head pastry chef Tiffany Jones and Black Star’s pastry executive chef Sam Yeo will showcase the finest sweet treats and change perceptions of what Asian desserts can be. SEE: Museum of Love and Protest – Love is Love night
The National Art School’s exhibition ‘the Museum of Love & Protest’ is starting this Friday 16th of February; kicking off the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras celebrations for 2018. The exhibition presents 40 years of love, protest, diversity and pride in the form of an immersive exhibition, showing off an amazing display of costumes, photographs and rarely-seen film footage and photographs telling the story of the Gay and Lesbian community throughout the years. This Friday, the first night of the exhibition is ‘Love is Love Night’, and features a special line up of DJ’s, speakers and artists to celebrate the opening night.
