Watch: Hot Tub Cinema
Get your kit off because there is a hot tub cinema at the Newamrket Hotel Sydney. It does what it says on the box, you get there, get down to your cossie’s, sit back, say “ah spa” as your skin sizzles in the bubbling soup that is you and your friends as you watch a classic film. It’s not a Sydney event without cocktails and you can hire a full hot tub or purchase an individual hot tub seat in a tub full of strangers (wink-wink). Check out the website for what’s on and when.
See: Cloud 9 Sydney
Caryl Churchill’s Cloud Nine is still as shocking and funny as ever. Presented by the Sydney Theatre Company, the play promises to “make you question your pre-conceptions, it will make you laugh and it will break your heart.” Kip Williams, STC Artistic director is following on from the success of his previous Churchill work ‘love and information’ in 2015. It’s a great opportunity to see a classic piece of theatre recalibrated for modernity. For more information visit:
Do: Bondi Winter Magic
Throughout the entire month of July, the Bondi Winter Magic festival will provide an alternative at Bondi from braving the icy water in your speedos. The famous beachfront will be transformed in to a winter wonderland with an ice skating rink, the large Bondi eye Ferris wheel overlooking the horizon as well as a ‘Bondi Feast’ pop up winter fest providing a stack of arts, music comedy and of course food. Hear: Sounds of the Grounds
This Friday night, the Grounds of Alexandria are going to provide a soul and blues band showcase with the likes of local artists Cat Vasilakis, Michael Duchesne and Alice Terry showing their skills amongst others. There of course will be food; it is the grounds we are talking about. Expect pizza, beer, wine and cocktails all night. You’ll need a ticket to get in unless you’re planning on having dinner in the potting shed beforehand. For more info, check out
