Hear: Sad By Sad West – Marrickville
Sad by Sad West is a fringe festival that is about connecting community and art through embracing emotion in music and in life. Presented by Lesstalk records and Papaiti Records, it is an attempt to connect the community through shared ideas and values represented in art and music. The three-day event will take over venues in Marrickville and Parramatta, they’ve partner with Cornersmith for a dining event as well as a bunch of Aussie artists.

Sip: Taste Orange Food and Wine Fest
On Sunday, the 7th of May the tastes of Orange are coming to the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel. Some of the best wineries of the mid-west are coming along to showcase such as Rowlee, Ross Hill, and Tamburlaine, all of which have a long list of awards and prizes.
Entry is free, but you’ll need to bring money for tasting, or you can buy yourself some tokens online.
Watch: Orb – Sydney Dance Company
The Sydney Dance Company has brought together a double header of dance, with Rafael Bonachela premiering Ocho, and Full Moon, choreographed by Tapei-based Cloud Gate 2, artistic director Cheng Tsung-lung. Both acts come together to form Orb. It is sure to be a night of exploration as both acts delve in to the deep connections between the universe and our existence.
Platform and Spy/Spy Photography
Opening this weekend as part of the Head On photo series at the Casula Powerhouse; Platform and Spy/Spy are two photographic series that are inspired by the New York underground and the darker side of the Cannes film festival.
Platforms by Natan Dvir, sees the New York Subway used as the whole subject, as well as everyone who uses it to commute. Spy/Spy is a glimpse into the glitz of Cannes photographed by Julien Mignot and Fred Stucin, the exhibition shows celebrities framed in a less polished more intimate way.
