This That Digital
Walking into This That, it was hard not to notice the impressive squadron of food trucks and the entertainment quarter with its own barber stand which populated the expansive field often used as stomping grounds for various sports. From the word (GO)DLANDS, THIS THAT invited you to cheer loud and dance hard, not so different to a standard sports weekend.
The opening set by Godlands set a bass and trap-filled tone for festivities to the crowd’s delight and for much of the afternoon it was the place to be. All Day’s swagger cooled down the end of the day and provided a nice contrast to the earlier acts and led into the well-known favourites SAFIA, The Rubens and The Kite String Tangle. Despite numerous technical difficulties, each and every artist took it in their charismatic stride and worked the crowd every minute. This festival was unashamedly one huge block party with its laid back vibe, and that’s the best thing about it.
