Paces leads an all-star cast of up-and-coming Aussie acts on ‘Call the 5-0’ in a shining example of the power of collaboration.

Paces, born Mikey Perry, is no stranger to collaboration. After all, he is the guy who brought Guy Sebastian to the Triple J airwaves for Like A Version. When he isn’t mixing it with pop stars he is teaming up with emerging stars, often discovered through Unearthed, the platform that gave Perry his breakout.

With Midas.Gold and Tigerilla providing vocals and Health Club giving a house music touch to the beat, it takes a talented producer to tie it all together into something coherent. This is where Perry comes in. There is so much packed in to ‘Call the 5-0’ from the swinging house rhythms of the verse to the epic, maximalist drop for the chorus, yet Perry effortlessly combines it into a banger.

On the process of bringing different acts from all over Australia together Perry says “those moments are my favourite part of being a producer - making something fun out of thin air!"
Fun is the key word here as it seems to resonate through everything that Perry does and the video is an excellent example of this. The video features all the artists on the tune (minus Health Club) running riot through the Gold Coast in the style of 1970s police shows. It’s the perfect visual for a fun and glistening track.

‘Call the 5-0’ will feature on Paces’ sophomore album ZAG which is set to be released on August 24 this year. The album is set to feature a number of collaborations with artists including Clypso, Doolie, and yes, even Guy Sebastian.
