"Soul Child"

Lil Wayne and Yung Bleu have joined forces for “Soul Child,” a vibey and punchy rap track that hears Bleu reflect on how far he’s come. The Alabama rapper lists off all of his accomplishments he’s pulled off in the past year, including collaborating with Drake and buying a new whip.

“I showed these n****s what to do with a Drake feature / Six-time nominated, used to wait in line, I done got us accommodated,” Bleu raps.
“Just think about the last seven months that I dominated / The cars that we drive come in like common denominators / You could be the one livin’ this life or the commentator.”

Wayne joins in around the two-minute mark with his own verse, rapping that he’s “been a pro since a kid like the young Luka Dončić.”

“Soul Child” is a cut from Bleu’s forthcoming album TANTRA, which is out for streaming on Friday. Ahead of the LP’s release, the rapper spoke to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about the process of recording with Wayne.

Bleu said that the song came together by “not going a normal route of a hook and a verse.”

“Just let it being the normal, what people think when you think of a me and Wayne track,” he continued. “Kind of just paying homage to the way Wayne likes to record and Wayne just say a lot of stuff on the beat and then you usually have to go in there and just make a hook.”

“It was just beautiful that way of just seeing us come together, like two different spectrums of music and just putting it together to make a hard ass track.”
