We are proud to be Premiering the Debut release from Sydney’s newest edition to it’s growing Hip Hop scene - Bo jo Jones. The project of Sydney locals - James Hancock - Bojo Jones and Jack Townsend - The Great Lummox, finds itself sitting in a really beautiful middle ground between early 90’s hip hop / jazz similar to acts like guru with flairs of innovation and modern day touches reminiscent of acts like Koi Child.
No stranger to the spotlight, producer Bojo Jones has been spending the last year creating upwards of 200 beats which he has been connecting with rappers and musicians from all over the world. His most recent work was on the production for Sydney rapper Beggers latest track which found itself gaining strong attention from blogs and radio alike.
The debut release from Bo Jo Jones - Back in Time uses piano samples throughout the song which drawn from a 1990's Barry Ellis workshop at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. ‘The track spells out the tale of the Sun, Moon and Sunflower’ - said Jones who collaborated with Q. Phife (Charlotte, NC based artist) for his Paid on this works.
Bo Jo Jones may be a new name in your vocabulary but they are here to stay. With a series of releases and collaborations to come, you can be sure they style of laid back hip hop is here to stay.
