Whilst tears may be shed as we bid adieu to Manly’s iconic Papi Chulo; cry no more, for Merivale’s Cantonese Queen Chow is set to be its exciting new replacement by this winter.
Merivale CEO, Justin Hemmes, said, “We have had a lot of fun at Papi these past four years, but felt the time was right to evolve the space and its offering”.
If you can’t get enough of Enmore’s Queen Chow, you’ll be frothing at the mouth, as it becomes Manly Wharf’s latest foodie addition. In fact, it is due to the “tremendous success” of Inner West’s Queen Chow, that Hemmes plans to “take the very best bits from there and create something really special for Manly”.
Under the trusty guidance of Executive Chef Patrick Friesen and dumpling guru Eric Koh, Manly’s Queen Chow will be nothing short of a Chinese precision. These connoisseurs of Chinese cuisine will be serving a modern Cantonese menu boasting roast meats, live seafood and diverse dim sum.
Its modern twist on traditional Chinese dishes, makes the restaurant a beloved Sydney favourite and an exciting new addition to the Manly wharf. Queen Chow tastefully combines the comfort of Chinese classics like barbecued ducks, live seafood, and varyingly-cooked dumplings, with a refreshing Cantonese take on Western favourites, like the stir-fried beef and thrice cooked potatoes adaptation of the iconic steak and chips pub grub.
However, you can seize the chance to say farewell to Papi Chulo by checking out the smokehouse and grill’s ‘Best of’ menu, launched to celebrate the restaurant’s very finest in final weeks. Papi’s signature smoked meats will be some of the favourites featured on the menu. From its famous hot wings and porchetta, to its king prawn and baby snapper seafood delicacies, and iconic Papi Chulo burger, mouths instead of eyes will be watering as you farewell the treasured eatery. However, be sure to get in quick before the restaurant closes on the 29th of April.
