In what could be the jewel in the crown for Jackie Park, who already has his hand in the elaborate pie of Koi Dessert Bar with Masterchef famed Reynold Poernomo comes the newly opened, emerald coloured, Moss Bros Kareela.
The lusciously green fit--out could be understandably mistaken for a set out of Wes Anderson’s the Grand Budapest Hotel. There are shades of deep greens and pistachio working around the room over panelled walls with brass accentuations. The floor is hypnotically tiled, and compliments the marble bar and fixtures. The ostentatious fit-out has seen design group Collectivus and Moss Bros nominated for an award. I mean one look at the velvet lounge would have sold me.
Of course with Moss Bros affiliation with Koi, you can expect a certain level of finesse to the dessert and pastries, which are Willy Wonka-esque, fittingly matching the design of the place. However if you’re not quite a sweet tooth, there are plenty of other savoury options to enjoy all day, with highlights like the Green Brekkie, Pulled Pork Burger and Eggs Benedict.
Coffee is supplied by Campos, fitting the green theme of Moss Bros. It’s a beautiful spot to come in and have a coffee, a beautiful pastry, or just to admire the fantastic Art Deco design.
