In the second instalment of The Blend, presented by Chivas Regal, Executive Chef Dan Hong will continue his work with some of his favourite chefs in this limited edition series of chef collaborations, bespoke cocktails and whisky blending at Ms. G’s.
In what is a first for collaborations at the Potts Point hangout, The Blend will bring together the experimental forces of Dan Hong and his friends, creating the ultimate weeknight party, with DJ’s, roving snacks, bespoke Chivas Regal cocktails and whisky stations throughout the venue.
This month’s collaboration brings together chefs from across the globe. Jowett Yu of Hong Kong’s famed Ho Lee Fook will accompany Louis Tikra, of LP & EP Los Angeles on Monday and Tuesday, November 12 and 13. Yu is somewhat of a journey-man, Taiwanese-born, Vancouver-raised and Sydney-trained, the esteemed chef originally opened Ms.G’s in 2011 with Dan Hong, so think of it as a little reunion. Since then, he has taken to Hong Kong, opening the casual, hip Ho Lee Fook, serving distinctive Chinese flavours that are inspired by late-night Chinatown hangouts of 1960s New York.
A fellow wanderer joining the scrimmage, Tikram was raised on an 110-acre cattle farm in Mullumbimby. Fijian-Chinese-Indian, Tikram has been carving out a name for himself in the States since 2015. His distinctly multicultural, family style philosophy has been a big hit in Los Angeles, with E.P & L.P making impressions on Conde Naste, describing his food “much like his story: diverse, creative, patiently executed.”
The rag-tag team are piecing together something special for Sydneysiders as they takeover Ms.G’s for two nights with Tikram’s LP spicy chicken sandwich, Jowett’s prawn and black fungi wontons with toasted chilli dressing and Dan’s fried bugtail with tom yum aioli doing the rounds. There will be oysters, duck larb, aguachile, crisp potato skins and more. Tickets are $89.95 and include all food, four Chivas Regal cocktails, a custom whisky blend experience and your very own blended whisky to keep.
