There is something about having a cool drink in the summer sun that strikes a chord with Sydneysiders. Whether it is a Sunday session by the water or rooftop beer garden, we like a drink, but we love one outdoors. After undergoing a revamp, Manly Wharf Hotel’s popular Jetty Bar now has the full cocktail list available out on the deck, so you can enjoy your cocktails, spritzes and more out in the sun. Think summer garden mojito, watermelon and mint martini, pineapple and cinnamon margarita or a spagliato, a spritz version of a negroni.
The harbour-side pub features a panoramic view of the water, perfect for enjoying long afternoons and long lunches. Alongside the refurbished look, with coastal striped umbrella’s that sing of halcyon days, the pub has a reinvigorated summer menu full of fresh flavours and produce. Head chef Kristen Hooper has added a healthy touch to the menu, introducing a mix of fresh salad bowls to the menu for the hotter days, such as the satay tofu bowl and the thai noodles with soft shell crab bowl, reflecting the menu’s inflection with south-east Asian inflected dishes.
If you are into something a little bit more decadent, you can go all out on a jetty platter. With tiger prawns, Moreton bay bugs, oysters, beer battered fish, soft shell crab salad, Japanese style tuna tartare, chips and wharfy sauce –there isn’t much more you could ask for other than a drink in your hand. If seafood isn’t your thing, feel free to get yourself one of the crowd-pleasing burgers.
Enjoy a drink under one of the yellow umbrella’s out on the deck, as the northern beaches gains another spot to enjoy the sunny days of summer.
