Australian hospitality giants Merivale are set to the open the doors to its 53rd establishment, Queen Chow on Manly Wharf. This pristine location will be the backdrop for the adaption of an original Cantonese culinary experience, made famous in Enmore. At Queen Chow, executive chef Patrick Friesen and dumpling extraordinaire Eric Koh are the reason for the business's high calibre thus far; and will bring this reputation to their ambitious goal of expanding the Queen’s reign to the north.
Taking a deeper inspection of the menu, the offerings range from the simple yet hearty wonton soup to the extravagant the mud-crab, prepared five different ways, including steamed with shallots, white soy and ginger, or wok fried with XO sauce. While seafood is the focus of the menu, and dovetails with the waterfront location, menu endeavors to please all palates. Dishes including roast duck in plum sauce, honey glazed pork ribs and Maryland crispy skin chicken provide a contrast for those who prefer to dine onshore. For a relaxed dim sum experience, Queen Chow’s range of dumplings with scallop, prawn, pork, mushroom and spinach varieties each provide a burst of flavor. To top it all off there are regal takes on a dessert icon, deep fried ice cream with butterscotch sauce.
For a dining experience that provides an elegant take on the classics, Queen Chow brings royalty to Manly.
