The Weekly Collection #75

Sales and sustainability are the go in this edition of the Weekly Collection.

The Big Fashion Sale is Back and Bigger than Ever

This week, the beloved Big Fashion Sale will open an extended pop up shop in Paddington's luxury shopping precinct, allowing wallet-wary fashionistas to shop a curated selection of local and international designer products. Previous pop-ups have been relatively short, but this time, we’re in for a treat, with the sale lasting for 11 fashion-filled days. As usual, the sale will feature a stellar line up of international and local designer brands - this edition featuring more than 50 labels, and for the first time including cult footwear brands Mara & Mine and Henry Beguelin alongside Emilio Pucci and Alberta Feretti. Other returning faves include Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, macgraw, Anna Quan and more. And if that’s not enough good news, Big Fashion Sale has also announced they will be launching an online store following the conclusion of the Sale, allowing you to shop a curated selection of pieces from home, the train, work … wherever you please! With savings of up to 80%, it’s an unmissable event for bargain hunters, so make sure to hit up 17 Oxford Street, Paddington, from June 19-30. Find out more at the Big Fashion Sale Instagram HERE.

Net-A-Porter Launches Sustainability Platform

This week, luxury online fashion destination NET-A-PORTER is launching a new platform to promote their sustainable wares. NET SUSTAIN aims to highlight and celebrate the brands already sold on their site that meet a certain criteria for sustainability, making sustainable fashion hunting a whole lot easier. The platform is launching with 26 brands and 500 products, all of which meets one or more of five key sustainability attributes: considered materials and processes, reducing supply chain waste in their supply chain, taking into account human, animal and environmental welfare and aligning with internationally recognized best practices in the fashion and beauty industries. NET SUSTAIN will have a dedicated section on the NET-A-PORTER site and will also be “badged” so that customers can easily identify items that meet the sustainability criteria. At the moment, key featured brands include exclusive Stella McCartney capsules, Mother of Pearl x BBC Earth, and Chopard - but the platform doesn’t plan on stopping there. Additional fashion items are to be added in seasonal drops, and within the year NET SUSTAIN hopes to expand to include beauty products. Elizabeth von der Goltz, Global Buying Director of NET-A-PORTER, says the aim of the new platform is “to give a voice to the brands that are truly making positive changes by providing them with a platform to highlight their best practice”. Assembly Label Launches Choose What You Pay Campaign

Australian fashion brand Assembly Label has launched a four-day “Choose What You Pay” campaign, with up to 50% off select apparel and accessories to raise money for the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS). From June 20 to June 23, the brand will play host to a Choose What You Pay store, with pieces offered at up to 50% off with three additional pricing options for those wishing to donate to the AMCS. As Assembly Label explains on their website, “If you choose to pay more for the product, the difference will be donated to charity and matched equally by Assembly Label. The more you pay, the more we both contribute and the greater the total donation”. The Choose What You Pay initiative represents one facet of Assembly Label’s goals to become more ethically and environmentally sustainable, alongside other initiatives like biodegradable packaging and 100% transparency on manufacturing processes. For their Choose What You Pay store, Assembly Label have chosen to team up with the AMCS due to its hard work on sea-related issues, including the creation of marine sanctuaries, sustainable fisheries, and the protection and recovery of threatened ocean wildlife. Funds raised through the Choose What You Pay store will be donated to the AMCS campaign to stop ocean plastic pollution.
