The Weekly Collection #70

A former boy band member teams up with HUGO, the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is announced, and an Aussie model launches an inclusive underwear brand. Read on for this instalment of the Weekly Collection.

HUGO is teaming up with this former One Direction member

Starting midway through this year, singer Liam Payne (of One Direction fame) will front a series of campaigns with HUGO BOSS as the brand’s new ambassador. The German luxury fashion house will feature Payne as the face of an exclusive new capsule and the brand’s bodywear, Payne noted at the announcement, “I knew if I wanted to do something in fashion it should be with HUGO. They design clothes that guys like me want to wear. Fashion started out as a hobby for me, but I’m loving being part of the creative process”. Peter Deirowski, Brand and Creative Director for HUGO, says “Liam is not only a very talented musician, he’s also got great style. This type of creative partnership is something we’ve never done before and we can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on behind the scenes”. During July’s Berlin Fashion Week, HUGO will also debut the exclusive HUGO x Liam Payne capsule with a concert and presentation, with pieces ready to buy following the event. Stay tuned.

The 2019 CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award Goes To ...

Next month, the Council of Fashion Designers of America will host their annual CFDA Fashion Awards at the Brooklyn Museum, celebrating the best and brightest in the Stateside world of fashion. This week, it was announced that veteran designer and costumer Bob Mackie will be honoured with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his 50-plus-years in the industry. Having already received nine Emmy Awards, three Oscar nominations, and a recent Tony nomination for his work on The Cher Show; Mackie is an obvious choice for the award, as Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA explained: “Bob Mackie is one of the most prolific designers of all time. He is a true artist and the ultimate showman”. Originally a sketch artist, Mackie has designed wardrobes for the Carol Burnett Show, Liza Minnelli’s famed Broadway show Minnelli on Minnelli, and Cher’s tours and red carpet appearances. Australian Model Natalie Roser Launches Diverse Underwear Brand

Last week, Aussie model Natalie Roser launched race-inclusive underwear brand Rose and Bare. Roser, a former Miss Universe Australia finalist, has been working on the project for three years, and calls it “a collection of basics born from a need for better options”. As explained on the Rose and Bare website, in a world that is increasingly devoted to inclusivity and diverse representation, a collection of nude underwear in more than just one shade felt necessary. “After noticing a gap in the market, I began the journey towards making underwear inclusive for all women,” explains Roser. “Just as every woman deserves underwear that fits her body shape perfectly, she deserves underwear that's made with her specific skin tone in mind”. Rose and Bare currently stocks bras in everyday, push-up, and strapless styles from size 8A to 14D; and underwear in hipster and g-string styles from size 6-14. All pieces come in four tones to suit a wide array of skin tones, and are priced pretty affordably at $79.95 for bras and $39.95 for a 3-pack of underwear. Shop the brand and find out more at their website: https://roseandbare.com.au/.
