Iconic Australian indie pop duo Client Liaison stunned a 500-strong crowd at their runway debut at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay, as part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, and they now bring that glam to us, via Paddington.
Vocalist Monte Morgan and keyboardist/producer Harvey Miller impressed the fashion world with their edgy, eclectic, 80s-style collection of looks - describing the runway themselves as a “pure entertainment spectacle with an electric fashion and music show culminating in a finale of 30 high leisurewear looks.”
Following that epic success, the duo are now bringing the collection to the public, with their Deluxe Line fashion collection Champagne Affection available for anyone wanting to inject their wardrobe with some eclectic 80s Client Liaison flair.
As co-CEOs, Miller and Morgan have designed a collection that includes everything from womenswear and menswear, unisex apparel to accessories, and a CLDL x Pared Eyewear sunglasses collab. Taking inspiration from archive resort footage of Christopher and Pixie Skase by Rennie Ellis, long late lunches and classic Australian flora and fauna; the line is bursting with light, bright pieces in primary shades and adorned with unique prints, with prices ranging from $15 to $249.
From June 14-17, you’ll be able to peruse the line in person, at the pop-up store in Paddington at 17 Oxford Street. Backyard Opera was invited to the exclusive launch event, and got a sneak preview of the popup itself, which was as hectic and zany as anything you’d expect from Client Liaison. Heavily inspired by Australian iconography of the 80s, the decor featured everything from native flowers, to life rafts, to retro video games and to politicians’ biographies and souvenir coasters. It’s truly a scene that needs to be seen to be believed.
If you’re not willing to brave the crowds though, the line is also available online now at https://clientliaison.fashion/
