The Weekly Collection #10

Grammy gowns and secret essays, Margaret Zhang’s creative stamp on Tiffany & Co and Grimes for Rodarte – the latest Weekly Collection.

Margaret Zhang x Tiffany and Co

Australian fashion all-rounder, Margaret Zhang, has released another collaboration with Tiffany and Co. The photographer and creative director has released a short film which encapsulates and showcases the Tiffany T and Tiffany HardWear ranges. This collaboration with Zhang shows the brand’s shift towards a more minimalistic look; targeting a more youthful audience. Zhang’s simply shot and directed film highlights the brand’s focus on showing its versatility, making it more accessible to a modern woman.

Secret essay stitched into Lorde’s Grammys dress

Lorde stitched an excerpt of a feminist essay by Jenny Holzer into her Valentino Grammys gown in support of the White Rose movement. While other artists and celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Rita Ora, showed support more literally – pinning white roses to their gowns – Lorde’s approach garnered interest and support from her industry counterparts, colleagues and fans. The excerpt was published as part of Holzer’s 1977 “Inflamatory Essays” and reads:
"Rejoice! Our times are intolerable. Take courage, for the worst is a harbinger of the best. Only dire circumstances can precipitate the overthrow of oppressors. The old and corrupt must be laid to waste before the just can triumph. Contradiction will be heightened. The reckoning will be hastened by the staging of seed disturbances. The apocalypse will blossom."

Rodarte’s answer to bowing out of International Fashion Week

In place of a runway at International Fashion Week, Rodarte have released a Fall 2018 Look-book entitled Women Who Inspire Us. The Look-book is a nod to ‘real’ women – musicians, actors and directors alike – who inspire designers Laura and Kate Mulleavy. Grimes, Kirsten Dunst, Ava Philippe and Gia Coppola are some of the women who feature in the Lookbook – photographed in ethereal, museum-like settings and dressed in Rodarte’s intricately embroidered, lace-heavy and feminine-floral garments.
