Oh Newtown, how we love you! Sunday will see the inner west strip taken over by a festival of sorts, with plenty of acts and DJs across Newtown’s favourite stages to end your weekend. The best bit? It’s completely free! Kicking off at various venues from 12pm, revellers can expect such a fun-filled afternoon that they’ll almost forget they have to work the next morning. Single, and looking to not have to deal with the inevitable bunch of creeps in bars? Thought so. If you’ve been looking for an alternative way to meet new potential dates, all is not lost. Encounter Dating run singles events across Sydney, and this weekend it’s the turn of the Singles Kayaking Tour. It’s a bit like speed dating - but on the water - and you’ll even get the chance to enjoy a picnic at the end. Jane Austen was all about her “truth universally acknowledged”, but we reckon we know the real one - all people in the world must, at all times, but in want of chocolate. The Smooth Festival coming to Sydney is there to satiate those feelings, and promises to do so over two days.
