This Week In Sydney 24/8

Relax - the weekend is around the corner! We’ve got plenty of fun stuff to help you unwind after a long, wintery week.

PARTY: AM//PM AT THE BURDEKIN HOTEL

We profiled https://www.backyardopera.com/sydney-9/2018/8/3/ampm-sydneys-emo-scene-is-alive-well-in-2018 this lot last month, but time flies -  AM//PM emo night is back this Saturday to bring some much-needed wildness to your weekend. Expect a moody aesthetic, coloured hair and tatts to brighten things up, and more than a few pop-punk singalongs. Find a new favourite band and make some friends while you’re at it. TRY: YOGA FOR ANXIETY

Sometimes life gets a little much, but yoga can be the perfect way to connect with the world, and even with yourself once again. It’s not about being the most flexible one in the room, it’s about regaining that sense of security in yourself. With a lecture, breathing exercises, posing and relaxation all on the table, you may well find yourself leaving a lot less stressed out and returning home a lot calmer this Friday evening. EAT & DRINK: SYDNEY ITALIAN WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL

If you don’t love all things Italian when it comes to food and drink, you might need to think about seeing a doctor - we reckon there’s something seriously wrong with you! All jokes aside, Sunday’s festivities promise to be packed full of fabulous food (like pizza and pasta, but also plenty more), as well as entertainment, and copious amounts of wine. GO: SYDNEY SOUL WEEKENDER

This event spans not one, not two but three days across Sydney and will be serving up delectable soul from some of the country’s very best rare soul DJs. Expect to hear a mix of Northern and Modern Soul and plenty more, all on original vinyl. On Friday, the action kicks off in the evening at Quarryman’s Hotel. On Saturday, head to Marrickville Bowling Club, while on Sunday things will be winding down (but not until the end of the night) at The Soda Factory.
