How did you start?
I don't have an interesting story, when I was pretty young, like 14 I decided that I wanted to do modelling because I liked fashion and photography so I went to a whole lot of agencies and got signed but I've only been doing it properly since I finished high school last year.
What fashion and photography inspired you at 14 to start?
Things that were much too mature for me to be doing at the time, I wasn't really interested in commercial things, I wanted to be doing intense editorials that are a work of art that involved a person instead of a person in clothes.
Personal style ...
It changes day to day based on my mood, so it's pretty all over the place, but I really like everything I have so it all comes together, there's a vague string connecting everything. Sometimes it's a bit punky and grungy sometimes it's lazy and sometimes it's a bit feminine
Who inspires you?
Vivienne Westwood is my life, probably a lot of my friends from Melbourne who are trying to begin being fashion designers but are living on not much money because they're studying and poor, the way they put things together from op shops they pin things so it looks messy but in a really interesting way, and I find that interesting too from a sustainability way, people creating things
What do you do besides modelling?
I consult for the Australian childhood foundation and we're working on a program to prevent child sexual assault and I make art and I do a lot of animal activism, going to slaughterhouses and rescuing animals, so this is the more chilled out part of my life.
Mostly animal liberation and DXE which is direct action everywhere.
When I was in Melbourne it was a sculptural practice but since I've been in Sydney I haven't had that much space, so I've gone more back to drawing and poetry, I just had a big sculptural piece at the NGV in Melbourne.
I miss making big things.
What's been the best experience so far?
I really like when I get to through instagram I've been lucky to connect with brands that I value, their ethos is really aligned with mine, so I've gotten to work with a whole lot of vegan and ethical brands, I've gotten to do work with Hozen, a vegan luxury handbag brand ... I really like doing that because it sits comfortably with me, I feel like it's doing something for a good cause.
I was in Leica magazine with my rescue lambs and that was the best photoshoot because it was with lambs!
