BYO: How did you start out as a photographer?

STASIA: I've loved taking photos ever since I can remember, whether it was on my mum's Nokia brick or my dad's old point and shoot film camera (clicking away despite it having no batteries or film, haha). When I look back now I think it was just something about capturing things beautifully placed together in a forever frame - and it took a lot less time than sketching or painting! It wasn't until almost 2 years ago when I started picking it back up again, asking my sister and my friends to model for me.

BYO: What elements are important to you when capturing an image?

STASIA: To me there are many different elements to a photo. Since I predominantly shoot portraiture, some of these things can include light, hair, how clothing falls off the body, and these things all have to complement each other to balance the negative and positive spaces in the frame. But I think above all I love when I capture the model looking confident and comfortable... when they're really just owning it!

BYO: Tell us what you love most about your work?

STASIA: Being able to work in a team creating something that we all can be proud of.

BYO: How would you describe your style / aesthetic?

STASIA: Minimal, vintage, dreamy.

BYO: Are there any key themes or elements that appear in your work and/ or have developed over time?

STASIA: I'm a big advocate for a more diverse fashion industry so I am conscious in working with a range of models of different heights, sizes and ethnicity.

BYO: If you could capture anything with your camera what would it be and why?

STASIA: I always strive to capture a part of a subject's personality in my work - whether it's a documentary piece or a fashion editorial. There are always fun outtakes from shoots that I love including in the final product of my work.

BYO: Throughout your journey as a photographer what have been some of your favourite moments?

STASIA: Definitely during every shoot, whenever we get the "money shot(s)" and the whole team knows it's the one!

BYO: What inspired you for this story?

STASIA: I came across Lorena Calderon Intimates and was drawn to the meticulous and vintage designs. They reminded me of a dream-like sequence and I knew then that I wanted to create something beautiful, delicate yet filled with feminine power.

I reached out to Lorena who carefully and sustainably creates each piece by hand, and we worked together to showcase her stunning lace pieces complementing the female body in its structural and artful beauty.
